Fr. Thames : Special Needs
- Helping with the English Language:
We are in need of individuals to come in the summer to teach English as a second language for a month or so. Spanish is not a prerequisite as there are students of English here who just need people to talk to in order to pick up the accent and practice speaking the language. - Sponsorships:
The principal work that I am trying to do with donations now is scholarships for children in school. Because there are not enough classrooms for children in the state schools, we felt the need to start 3 schools this year, very haphazardly, but necessary.
I would like a family there to sponsor the children of a family here with $10 a month. All donations could be sent to St. Bartīs in my name or could be sent directly to a fund in the diocese of Fort Worth, Thames Mission Fund, Catholic Diocese, 800 West Loop South, Fort Worth, TX 76108. I will pair one or two families with a family there in Fort Worth, and send pictures of the families here in front of their house, with a short word of the family. (I may divide the money if we find a family who could support 1/2 of the cost, giving half to another family so as to go further with the money that way).
