young adult ministry

St. Bart's Young Adult Ministry for all adults who still feel young, 18 and up.
In addition to the following activities we offer a weekly e-mail that tells of the upcoming schedule and has the weekly prayer requests. To be added to this list or to submit a prayer request, contact Jeff
Bible Study
7 p.m. Tuesdays, Parish Life Center Youth Room (Map of Church Ground's)
This is a low key study of Scripture and Tradition. No prior knowledge of the bible or Catholic teaching is necessary. The goal each week is to learn a little about God's revelation to us and see how it relates to our life. After each session, the young adults usually go for a bite to eat. We alternate topics from selections from Scripture and Church Documents in an attempt to get a broad picture of how God reveals himself to us. Feel free to join at any time -- each individual study usually doesn't require knowledge of the previous weeks. Our studies are led by Jeff Hedglen, who has a master's degree in this stuff, so it's got to be good!
Meet for Mass
11 a.m. Sundays
St. Bart’s young adults usually meet for 11 a.m. mass and then go out to eat. We typically sit on the organ side around the 4th row. All are invited!
Frassati Fridays
7 p.m. every few weeks or so on a Friday at Jeff Hedglen's house (contact for directions)
This is a place where honesty, passion and faith mix. We're all caught up in busy lives where its hard to focus on God. Frassati Fridays slows things down for a time to have deeper conversations about faith. Afterward, stick around for optional snacks and fellowship. Pier Giorgio Frassati is the patron of the youth room where we have bible study. He was a Catholic young adult with a lot of passion for the faith. For this reason we invoke his name for our Friday times of prayer, for just like Pier Giorgio we will be aiming to "Go Higher" in our faith (for more info on him go to www.frassatiusa.org).
Community Service
(varies)
Our group tries to be Christ's love to the poor in the community. We usually help with Catholic Charities, Presbytarian Night Shelter or at our own Vincent DePaul Society. Our outreach projects vary, so if you want more information, e-mail Jeff at the e-mail on top of the page.
Theology on Tap
(seasonal)
St. Bart's young adults show up in force for this popular diocesan event. The Young Adult Council of the diocese arranges two informal speaker series a year that focus on a variety of topics (oh yeah, and we're at a bar). For more information see www.fwdioc.org
Diocesan Young Adult events
There's a lot more opportunities to get involved outside of the St. Bartholomew parish. The Dioces of Fort Worth has a strong young adult program with activities year round. St. Barts young adults participate, and we invite you to join us! Check out what's going on at www.fwdioc.org
