how adults can help
The United States bishops wrote a document on Youth Ministry called Renewing the Vision. In that document they say that everyone in the parish is called to be involved with the Youth Ministry. That involvement could be weekly or it could be simply committing to pray for the youth daily.
I encourage everyone to take a look at the possibilities on the next page and ask the Lord how you are to be involved. The youth are not only the church of the future, they are an important part of the church of today! Before we know it they are off to adulthood in the real world. As we all know the world is a difficult place to live. We need to do all we can to help our youth to trust Jesus with their lives.
In addition, we have a policy in our diocese that says where ever there are children and youth we need to have two adults present. This is part of our effort to create a safe environment for our young people. Thus, it is extremely important that we have adult volunteers in Youth Ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming involved with the youth. Even if it is only one event a year!
