camp ft. worth

Camp Ft. Worth is both a hands-on and immersion experience that is co-sponsored by St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and the Office of Youth Ministry and Adolescent Catechesis for the Diocese of Ft. Worth.

Camp Ft. Worth builds the Kingdom of God while drawing you closer to Him. The Father loves and He sends. He Loved the world so much He sent His Son Jesus. Camp Ft. Worth is a place where His love, sends YOU!! Come to Camp Ft. Worth and experience the Father's love as you never have before.

You will experience the love of the Father in the person of His Son Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit in a profound way through Service work, Friendships made, Prayer time, Praise and Worship, and contact with the poor of our diocese.

Jesus said the poor would always be with us. He also sends us to their aide. Camp Ft. Worth is a small effort to raise awareness to the plight of the poor in our diocese and to encourage youth to add service to the poor of the world to their lifestyle as Catholic Christians.

Camp Fort Worth Basics:

Who :
Students who have completed the 9th grade through Graduating Senior. We ask each parish to send a group of 5-10 students. For every 5 students one adult. This means that is you have 1-5 students bring one adult and if you have 6-10 students bring 2 adults. No youth can attend on their own. Cost - $100.00.

What exactly is it:
Each participant will be placed in group of about 10 youth and one adult. Each group will travel to a different work site each day. The sites will be things like: Salvation Army, Food Bank, A Community Center (working with children), A Nursing home and The "home" church site (doing odd jobs).

Showers - Since the place we stay is not equipped with shower facilities for a group our size we will shower in the afternoon after working either at the Y.M.C.A. or at a shelter.

Meals - Every group that sends a group must provide either a breakfast or a dinner so be sure and call to volunteer your help. We do this so the camp experience goes beyond the students and to keep the cost of camp down Lunch will be provided by Camp Ft. Worth.

Why is it called "Camp Ft. Worth" :
The camp is not named for the city of Ft. Worth, rather it is named for the diocese. Because the "Local Church" is the Diocese of Ft. Worth and this camp seeks to serve the whole diocese.
