It's All About You

Hello - “It’s all about you.”

Have you ever heard that phrase? It seems to be going around a lot. Well, I think this phrase deserves a bit of attention as your school year begins. “It’s all about you.” This phrase has a lot of applications. First of all, this phrase helps us take the focus off of ourselves. We, in America, have a tendency to be a bit self-centered. “It’s all about you” helps us think of the other person first. I’m asking you to take this attitude into your school this year. Think of others first this year. Think of their feelings, their situation. Instead of making fun of somebody, be their friend. Instead of griping about a teacher whom you might not like, remember they are people too and they have feelings. Instead of just hanging out with the same old gang this year, try making a new friend.

Remember that it’s not about you. Wait a minute... Can it be ALL about you and NOT about you at the same time? YES!! Here’s how: You see, the point is to think of others first, not ourselves. So, if everyone has the attitude “It’s all about you, someone somewhere is thinking that about YOU! When this happens you don’t have to worry about yourself, because someone else is covering that. “It’s all about you.” The last reflection I have on this has to do with a higher way to look at this phrase. I have a feeling that Jesus was picturing you when he was on the Cross and He was saying to you “It’s all about you.” He lived His life and he died His death for you. Have you ever thought about that. God died for you. Now that is commitment and dedication.

Now we might never be asked to die for some one to show that it is all about them, but that does not mean that we are not called to put others first. So think about the other people in your life. Think about coming to Youth Stuff this year, and most of all think about Jesus when you hear “It’s all about you”... because it really is.
