Jesus is the Reason
Hello - What do you know, its almost Easter.
Time for the Easter Bunny and colored eggs. Tons of candy and chocolate. After all that’s what Easter is all about. Wasn’t it the Easter Bunny who was nailed to the cross for our sins on Good Friday. And the same fuzzy creature who rose again three days later. I mean that bunny is so cute he/she must have saved the world. Do you agree with what I’m saying? Well, the world around us must. When I go into Kroger and walk down the Easter Aisle all I see is Peter Cottontail and all his friends - the sugar family. This must mean that the Christians have it all wrong. We Christians are so foolish to believe that God in human form did what a rabbit could do. Why would God do what one of His own creatures could do just as easily? Or, maybe it’s the world that is foolish. Could it be that places like Kroger have it all wrong? That Jesus really is the reason for the season of Easter.
Let me make it easy for you, Jesus is the one who lived, died, rose, and still lives - for you and me. No one else. No bunny or any other created being. Only God’s Son - God Himself. Yes Jesus is God. So is God. But so is Jesus. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all God. Equal to each other, as powerful as the other, and way far beyond us. Only God could have done what He did. Let me tell you why. God gave humans such a wonderful and awesome gift when He created us. That gift was His love. Through sin the gift has been destroyed. The love of God is so far beyond human love. So, for the gift of the Love of God to be restored to us, only someone who can love like God could repair the damage caused to the gift by sin. It is not the same thing as if you break one of your CHRISTmas gifts and then go to the store and buy another one. Another ‘Gift of God’s love’ can’t be found at any store. The only place to get the gift is at the source. And the Source is Jesus.
So when the time came for sin and death to be conquered, God sent God in the form of Jesus to give the gift back to us. Only this time it was not like it was in the Garden of Eden. This time the giving of the gift hurt. God had to die to give us the chance to receive the gift. Just because Jesus died and rose again doesn’t mean that you already have the gift. You have to do something to get it. You have to believe that all I have said is true and that you, too, need Jesus. It’s as simple as that. But some people would rather celebrate the Easter Bunny. I don’t know if Peter Cottontail is the energizer bunny but I do know the Lord Jesus Christ is THE Energizer. Want some power? Plug Him in!!
