Do You Have Time for Jesus?

How important is your faith to you? How important is Jesus to you? To answer this question you might want to look at what you spend your time doing. The things we give the most time to are the things we think are most important. Also, the things we put at the top of our priority list show what is important to us. (School doesn't count in this case just as work doesn't count in the case of your folks, what we are talking about is free time.)

So, what do you spend most of your free time doing? What is at the top of your priority list. Do you often not go to mass, or Religious Ed. or Youth Group because you have other plans? Do you play a sport on Sunday and thus miss church activities? If you are of the age to work, do you not do "church stuff" because you work? On the other side of the issue. do you request off from work on Sundays so you can go to mass or YSN? Do you arrange your schedule so you can make all of the church events you can? You see, the way you choose to do what you do says a lot about what is important to you.

Do you like going to mass, Religious Ed. or Youth Group? If your answer is NO, ask yourself why that is your answer. Is it all just too boring? Is it all just not "cool" enough? Is church stuff, in your opinion, a waste of time? If your answer to any of the above questions is YES, do you know why you feel this way?

Are you saying that Jesus is boring, un-cool and a waste of your time? Or is it just the "church" that is boring un-cool and a waste of time? Be careful now, Jesus founded the church.

I will admit that following Jesus means that some things considered "fun" are now off limits. BUT, following Jesus will give you some things that nothing else can give you.

Some things that all people want that you can get from following Jesus are: peace, acceptance, eternal life, freedom, and LOVE. Things like sex, partying, money, success, and power will never bring you peace, acceptance, eternal life, freedom, and LOVE.

This might sound like a load of bull to you. but when you are alone at night and there is no sex, partying, money, success, and power happening are you happy? Do you have peace? Do you have acceptance? Do you have eternal life? Do you have freedom? Do you have LOVE? Whether you want to admit it or not the answer is NO! These things only come from Jesus.

Jesus came from heaven became a human, lived here for 33 years, suffered (for you), died (for you), and rose from the dead (for you). He loves you so radically and completely that he endured a beating and horrible death. Does that sound boring, un-cool and a waste of your time?

There are millions of teenagers just like you who do not think that Jesus and the church are boring, un-cool and a waste of their time? Could they all be so wrong? Could 2000 years of history be wrong?

Give God a chance to touch you. Come to mass, come to youth stuff this summer, pray to Jesus, reach out to Him, he is already reaching out to you. So, take a look at how you spend your free time and think about spending some of it with Jesus!
